EV charger joint venture Iona recently announced A new partnership with Casey to install 8 new fast charging centers at Casey stores this year. The chargers will be 400kW, which is quite fast, and Casey is a very familiar brand for many motorcycles.

The new charging centers will be mostly in the Midwest, with several southern locations as well:

  • Vernon Hills, Illinois
  • McHenry, Illinois
  • Terre Haute, Indiana
  • Parkville, Missouri
  • Kearney, Missouri
  • Blackwell, Oklahoma
  • Waco, Texas
  • Little Rock, Arkansas

“This partnership with Casey is key to expanding our presence in America’s heartland. It is a region that embodies the spirit and trajectory of the Iona brand. With a shared respect and commitment to delivering a quality customer experience, we are pleased to add Casey to our growing network of partners,” Seth Cutler saidCEO of Iona.

The Terre Haute location is important because it is only 77 miles from Indianapolis, Indiana’s largest city.

Vernon Hills is a suburb of Chicago about 36 miles from Chicago, and McHenry is about 20 miles west and slightly north of Vernon Hills.

Parkville is in the Kansas City metro area, and Carney is about 27 miles to the northeast.

Blackwell to Wichita, KS, where other fast chargers are located, is about 65 miles.

Adding more fast-charging centers to this point reduces the distance between existing public chargers and shortens charging times to facilitate long-distance travel. A bio break, a short walk and a snack or a full meal of drinks can cover the entire charge time so it’s not a burden. In fact, some EV drivers have said they feel less fatigued driving an EV on road trips than a gas-powered vehicle because there is less noise and vehicle vibration and they plan to stop more comfortably.

Iona is a joint venture founded by BMW, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, Stellar and Toyota.

There has been some good news about EV charging related to these new charging hubs. about 40 new public charging ports It will be installed in Springfield, Illinois, about 220 miles from Vernon Hills and McHenry. Pontiac is on the way south and has EV chargers, including some fast ones, so it could be considered something of a midpoint. About 40 miles south of Pontiac is Bloomington, which is Many Public EV chargers.

EV drivers already know that the point of adding all these new charging ports to fill gaps in charging infrastructure is to “connect the dots.” Fortunately, this trend is happening even though the political winds are not helping. The mainstream media may not cover some small EV charger installations, but they are happening.

EV charging infrastructure is slowly expanding, so it’s not necessary to have a mythical futuristic EV with an 800-mile range to solve “range anxiety.”
