This little spacecraft can rewrite the black hole race and physics

It looks like a science fiction: a spacecraft, not heavier than the paper clip, the laser beam operates and the space and time of the space and time to examine the laws of the physics, the black hole hurts the space at space. But for astronomical physics and black hole experts, this idea is not far away.

Reporting in the cell press journal iscimentBambi offers a blueprint to convert this interstiter journey into a black hole. If successful, this century long mission can return data from nearby black holes, which completely changes our understanding of general relations and physics rules.

“We no longer have technology,” says Cosimo Bambi, author of Fooden University in China. “But in 20 or 30 years, we probably.”

The mission depends on two important challenges.

Bambi says the previous information about the evolution of the stars shows that a black hole can be made from Earth for only 20 to 25 light years, but it will not be easy to detect. Since black holes do not exclude the light nor reflect the light, they are practically hidden for binoculars. Instead, scientists find them and study them, based on how they affect the way to distort nearby stars or light.

“There are new techniques to discover black holes,” Bambi says. “I think it’s worth expecting that we will find one near the next decade.”

Once the target is identified, the next obstacle is coming there. Traditional spacecraft, which are chemical fuel -powered, are very complex and slow to travel. Bambi pointed to Nano Crafts-a gram scale of a microchip and light cell as a potential solution. Earth -based lasers blow the cell from photon, and bring this craft to a third of the light speed.

At this speed, this skill can reach the black hole at a distance of 20 to 25 light years in about 70 years. The data collected to its data will take two more decades to return to Earth, with the total mission of the mission from 80 to 100 years.

Once this skill is near the black hole, researchers could have experienced experiments to answer the most pressing questions in physics. Does a black hole really have an event horizontal, which cannot be avoided by its gravity beyond the limit? Do physics rules change near the black hole? Is Einstein’s theory under the extreme conditions of the general relationship of the universe?

Bambi has noted that only lasers will cost around a trillion euros today, and technology is not yet available to make non -craft. But in 30 years, he says costs may be reduced and technology can achieve these bold ideas.

“It can really look crazy, and in one sense, close to science fiction,” says Bambi. “But people said that we will never know the gravity waves because they are very weak. We did 100 years later. People thought we would never witness the shadow of black holes. Now, 50 years later, we have two pictures.”

The work was supported by China’s National Natural Science Foundation.
