Silver coins medieval storage, gold doctates in Poland – History BlogA small ceramic vessel detected in the jungle near Bochania, southern Poland, has been found consisting of more than 600 silver coins and four gold documents from the fifteenth century.

When members of the Bocania Treasury Hunters Association Statter discovered the vessel on March 16, three loose coins fell from the top, all silver Danri, Poland’s King and Lithuania’s Grand Duke (R. 1447-1492) by Casimir Gigalon. The vessel had some slight damage to the rim, but the rest of it was intact and more coins were seen under the thin layer of clay.

The search was immediately reported to the Woodshop Office delegation to protect the monuments in Krako. Archaeologists from Wovodeshp and Stenso Fisher Museum in Bochania recovered the vessel. Experts at AGH University in Poland, Krako’s AGH University, were employed to carefully dig the contents of the vessel without loss.

When they first detected the vessel, the Finders speculated that there might be 100 coins inside it. This shows that they understood the capacity of the small vessel.

It includes 592 silver gigelonian Denari, two of the 26 silver gurus in two sizes, and four gold doctates during the Sigsmand era of Luxembourg, who ruled from 1387 to 1437 as the holy Roman emperor and king of Hungary and Bohemia.

The gold documents were wrapped in a cloth, tied to the wire, and were decorated under silver coins, an arrangement that was confirmed deliberately confirmed tomographic studies.

Experts say the reservoir indicates that the Bocania region was once a dynamic center of trade and economic activity.

Ceramic utensils and coins will now be saved at the Staniso Fisher Museum where they will go to a permanent display when the work is completed.
