Judahite Author, a Roman era Greek historian, and 17th -century Explorer all shared? A piece of each puzzle places a famous Bible site – a ridiculous place of ethnic ziklag.

For years, scholars have made theory about the Bible Zaclag location, which is noteworthy in the Bible because King Saul belongs to Young David’s Haven. One suggestion, which has received a lot of attention, is that Ziklag should be identified in Juden Chefila with the tenth -century BCE hill mountain Alra Ray. In a recent article, I appeared Israel Exploration JournalScholars, Zachary Thomas and Chris McCain challenge this proposal. Thomas and McCains, ancient literary sources and earlier excavation results, challenging the proposal of the altar and suggesting a new theory, saying that the Bible’s Ziklag is actually an unknown location to tell Ash Sharia’s statement in the northwestern Negio.

Approach

According to the Hebrew Bible, Zaklag was a small town that David was given a gift by King Achish of Gat during a flight from King Saul to David. Bible accounts say that from Ziklag, David raided the towns of northern Negio, suffered attacks by Amalcites, and restored great wealth to the people of Judah (1 Samuel 27-30). Ziklag was also a place where David received news of Saul and Jonathan’s death (2 Samuel 1:17).

But where was this Bible city? Initially, the meloders of the melodate al -Rao suggested that their site is the best candidate for ancient Ziklag. Radio carbon dates indicate a settlement at the early tenth century BC, which is affiliated with Shah David. The scholars also identified the large gathering of the site of pharmaceutical kerosene as well as the proximity to the song and the Nigio Highlands. Thomas and McCain, however, have argued that the melody cannot be ancient ziklag because the major stages of this site’s occupation do not agree with the Bible account. In addition, he says that the Bible authors recorded Ziklag in the cities of Northern Negio or Beer Shiba Basin, and it was not a city in the Shefila, where Kheerbat al -Alai is located (Joshua 19: 1-110).

Tell Ash Shariah

Tell Ash Sharia, recently has been identified as a more potential candidate for the Bible Zaclag. Danny Gershoni, CC Bai-SA 4.0, through Wikimedia Commons.

Instead, Thomas and McCain argued that Half the way between Gaza and Barishaba, Tel Ash Sharia, a small -famous site in North Negio, is a very good candidate for the Zaklag of the Bible. Tel Ash Sharia’s archaeological evidence suggests permanent occupation from the age of Central Bronze to the early Roman era. Additionally, the written record that describes the Ziklag location. Onomastican The 17th-century Explorer’s travel logs-keep the city 15 miles east of Gaza, which is very closely linked to the geographical location given in the Bible account. Although this new identity raises interesting questions about Ash Sharia and its importance in the time of Shah David, the debate about the actual location of Ziklag will definitely continue.
