The assassination of King Sannacherib of Assyria has been presented as a divine justice of God against a bad king in the Bible. Outside the Bible, however, it was the most important event in the history of the ancient East. By collecting records and references from modern and later sources, historian Christopher Jones has given a new look after the program and, as a result. Sinnacherib murder
January 22, 680 BC, Sinnachereb was killed during a uprising led by several of his sons in his capital, Nanovia. Although only a few verses are encountered according to the Bible of this incident (Isaiah 37: 37-38; 2 Kings 19:37; 2 Chronicles 32:21), from this time, Assyria provides a very much full picture of the death of Sinnacherib. By examining the names of letters, records, and even the officials of the Assyrians, Jones, the newly -substantial empire, has been able to temporarily re -establish the incidents that led to the killing of the king.

By the time of his death, Snachrib had achieved great success, the empire was expanded and strengthened by his father, Sargon II. In fact, because of the Sanachirib’s military campaigns in the Livate, he is often one of the non -Israeli kings in the Hebrew Bible. Nevertheless, during the uprising in Babylon, the nearly permanent turmoil and the conflict of the Sinacharib regime also included the death of his eldest son and heir, Aswar Nadin-Yomi.
After this death in 694 BC, Sinacharib briefly raised his son, Arvid Miliso (Bible Edlermick), before he changed his view and nominated his younger son Esardon’s new heir. It was not an irrational situation in Assyria, because Sancheraib’s own name (literally, “sin has changed the brothers”) tells us that Sancheraib was not the first son of Sargon. However, this decision will eventually lead to his life.
In the western part of the empire, the young man’s departure from Esardon, especially the Dore-Katmo (Modern Tell me, Sheikh Hamad), ancestor of the family’s hometown-Essardden, launched a uprising. After pleasing to a large number of Elite Charity Forces of Assyria, along with many senior officials of Nanvia, the brothers killed their father, Sanchereb.
While some scholars had earlier suggested that Esardon integrated the murder, it was certainly not so. Instead, as documentary documents have been made in several posts at that time, after that, Arad-Miliso was a violator, who intended to emphasize the throne that his father had denied it. Some respects show that the brothers also tried to kill Esardon, but they failed.
According to the Bible Account (Isaiah 37: 38), the murder of Sanchib was carried out by the Edler and Sharer at the temple of God. Although the admirerik is probably a defective spell of Ard-Miliso, there is no consensus among scholars on the role of the shareholder, which is probably a defective spell of one of the other brothers. God Nasroch is similarly unknown and may be a modest god like Nosko, or even in the name of a particular God, which has been lost today.
The fall of the war and the fall of the kingdom for power
After the murder of Snachriab, Assyar was put into a short but chaos struggle. After being able to escape the murder, Esardon began to gain support for climbing the throne. Based on the posts and letters of the time, it appears that Esardon first launched a massive propaganda campaign, which aimed to force regional governors and Temple agencies to support their claims on the throne. As a nominee, Esardon relied heavily on his official status as a goddess.

The campaign was clearly successful, as only a month later, Esardon submitted enough forces to march from Katmo to Nineva. When he reached his destination, possibly fought against a number of battles on the way, his victory was already there. As the Bible’s account tells us (and confirmed several letters of Aswari), Esardon’s brother and many of his supporters fled the country, heading to the kingdom of Yorto to the north. Esardon entered Nineveh on March 12, 680 BC, who is undoubtedly the ruler of the Assyrians.
Essardon climbed the Throne, however, the story of Sancheraib’s murder was not the end. However, while managing to restore the order, the Essardon could not eliminate the damage to the empire. In fact, the deaths of his father’s death had a profound impact on Esardon himself, who, in most parts of his period, tried to strengthen his succession, and his younger son, Ashwarbanipal, raised his eldest son as healed on the Ukin. But his decision will prove to be disastrous, just as Esardon’s death just a few decades, šamaš-Iumu-Ukin used his position as king of Babylon because of a bloody civil war against his brother Ashwarbinapal, and he once again ignored the empire.
Although Asuria retained domination in the East for almost a century after the assassination of Sinacharib, the political and psychological impact of the event will continue to felt until the last fall of the Assyria Empire in C ended. 610 BC is separating the empire and redeeming the brother against the brother.
