Although federal EV purchase incentives are gone in the US, the state of Colorado still has something for its residents. Of course, there are some rules to follow To qualify.

To maintain some of its EV momentum, the state will increase the benefits it offers, he said Vehicle Exchange Program (VXC)an initiative designed to help middle- and low-income residents replace older gas guzzlers with plug-in vehicles.

“Beginning November 3, the rebate available through the VXC program will increase from $6,000 to $9,000 for new EV purchases and leases. The rebate available for used EV purchases or leases will increase from $4,000 to $6,000.”

We’re probably familiar with “cash for clunkers” programs that help get older, more polluting vehicles off the road, especially in urban areas. The Colorado program takes old gas-powered vehicles off the road and replaces them with electric vehicles, not new or used fossil fuel vehicles. That’s a big difference, isn’t it?

Fully electric vehicles do not emit toxic tailpipe emissions that harm human health and contribute to premature deaths. When I did an interview with the American Lung Association about its air pollution report, The representative explained: “The report also includes a goal of 100% zero-emission new passenger vehicle sales by 2035, which, along with non-contiguous electricity generation, would avoid about 90,000 premature deaths from the health benefits shown by modeling this scenario, as air pollution from these sources would be much lower, although we did not fully model it. We used the US EPA’s COBRA model for the health benefits analysis.”

It is worth noting the human health impacts as they are multiple and severe. In Colorado, air pollution takes its toll Many children. “Over 32,000 Colorado children will experience asthma attacks each year due to ozone from this industry.” In the attached PDF, the words “this industry” refer to the oil and gas industry. The elderly are also vulnerable to toxic air pollution. Pregnant people and people living with chronic diseases or health conditions are also vulnerable.

Although electric vehicles may be seen as “environmental,” they also help reduce the generation of toxic air pollutants that harm human health. Furthermore, there are some people who will openly say that they don’t care about the environment, so they will continue to drive polluting vehicles and buy toxic fuels that contribute to climate change. However, if they read about how fossil fuel air pollution harms people, they might pay attention.

Fully electric vehicles are much more energy efficient than gas or diesel vehicles.
