A. Sutherland – AncientPages.com – The kingdom of Grimnets, once located in the oasis of the Libyan city of Fezzan, has many legends surrounding it.

He was known for his technological innovations and maintained trade links with both the Mediterranean region and sub-Saharan Africa.

The Garnets stand as remarkable pioneers of civilization in the Sahara, thriving in a harsh environment where many others could not. The society built towns and impressive castles and developed prosperous oasis agriculture. They mastered sophisticated water management techniques and played an important role in trans-Saharan trade.

During the Neolithic period of Africa from about 1000 BC to about the 7th century AD, when the Arab conquest took place, the garimants built a sophisticated society. Their capital was the fortified city of Garama, along with several other urban centers.

Politically organized into a confederation, the garriments were ruled by a king. They were not desert savages living in one or two small desert towns and settlements scattered across the vast desert. It was, of course, wrong to have such an opinion about garments.

We must not forget that this unusual, modern society lived in the Sahara Desert, the largest desert in the world, where the average rainfall is only half an inch.

Still, garments flourished, and so did their agriculture.
