A large stone excavation is being revealed in the Hatzum area of Jerusalem, which can now be considered the largest discovered from the second temple of the region. Exposed by the Israeli Antique Authority (IAA), the ear stones were used in many buildings built on the many buildings built by King Herod, the Great and its offspring.

The construction of Jerusalem
Under Herod The Great (R. 37-4 BC), the city of Jerusalem and Judaia became amazingly prosperous, during which period the most memorable construction project in the region, including expanded Jerusalem Temple, Herodium, and the port city of Cesarea Maritima. IAA excavation can help respond where the Herodian family acquired building equipment for their Jerusalem -based projects.
Although only one acre has been revealed around the ear, IAA estimates that there can be more. “Most of the rocks in the building that were removed from here were large stone slabs, which reached 8 feet, their width was 4 feet, and they were a foot thick,” said Michael Charan and Lara Shelo. “The weighing two and a half tons of the block with such a fight!”

These large -scale stones were basic construction equipment for the royal construction projects of Jerusalem, including Temple Mount and Jerusalem Temple, both were built under Herod The Great. Jerusalem’s “third wall”, built by Herod’s grandson, Herod Agripa I (R. 37-44 CE), as well as many other impressive buildings, fortresses and palaces built in Jerusalem during the first century.
Although many of these major projects were certainly used Certainly, Hatzum’s mine was almost certain, but IAA was able to connect them directly to the David city, which is also in the second temple period. Checking the smooth stones of the road shows that they share the same dimensions and geological signatures as the Harfsum site quarreled.

However, beyond hungry stones, archaeologists also surprised by discovering a stone vessel. According to the Bible law, stone utensils may not be formally unclean, and thus the Jewish communities usually used the early Jewish communities that began at the end of the second century. However, the vessel is quite different. As the University of Ariel University shared Bible History daily“Here is very difficult for the mass production of stone utensils that were usually made of soft chalk. If the vessel was made on the site, it may be that the ear workers had some fun to try their hand only in making stone pots. Its shape is quite different from the normal chalky vessels.”
