“Have you fallen into serious illness, and do many people come… with charm, with some amulets… to solve the evil?” With these words, the fourth -century bishop, John Cresastom, in the Anticho, asks his loyal, about the collective process of Christian amulets, which he has fully condemned, suggests that good Christians should face any of these things. “ (Harmaly 3 on 1 Thosalonis 3).

Christian amulets written with text or photos come in two large groups in terms of their size. Small amulets, which will not be allowed in a limited area of surface, will usually have only a handful of words or a picture. They have taken the shapes of the commonly written jewelry, ring, or pendant. An example of this is the fifth or sixth century pendant of the copper allocation at the Walters Art Museum (see the first picture above). On the one hand, the pendant features “too much zero eye” that has been attacked by lions, a scorpion, a snake, a stark and spears. Clearly, the purpose was to protect it from the bad eye. On the other hand (seen in the picture), it has a “sacred rider” and a picture of the Greek log, which is written, “[The] One God controlled the evil. Jhvh. “

Another example of small Christian amulets is the brass ring found in the Gedar Gedar in South Gold (see the picture above). The entire surface of this small amulet covers the Greek log: “Christ, help Andreas.” Although we do not know the identity of the aforementioned Andreas, we think he is wearing a ring for protection. Interestingly, his text is clearly Christian. This prayer would be undeniable for any early Christianity and only praised religious leaders. Still, John Cristosom has made it clear that even for good Christians, rings like material items were not allowed.

In rejecting the Gospel amulets, Christian leaders had the words of Matthew 23 in front of them, where Jesus made fun of him and criticized that some Pharisees were wearing Jews. Taflin.
