A new study has revealed that a large marine crawling animals from the initial jerusic period used stealthily to hunt their prey in dark or dark waters – like a owl on the ground today.
Research, published today NatureInvestigating a meter long flap from a tummondoncentosis-with a giant temple ichthyosaur- uniquely securely stored with soft tissues.
These results suggest that the marine creeping animals, which are more than 10 meters in length, were equipped with special pins, which scientists believe that when it was almost 183 183 million years ago, the sound of their movements was suppressed.
The team includes an international team of scientists, headed by Dr. Johann Lundgran from Lund University in Sweden, in collaboration with Dr. Dan Lumix, a leading ichthyosar expert in the world, a psychologist at Manchester University, in collaboration with Dr. Dan Loms, a psychologist.
Dr. Lundgran, who has researched ancient marine radial soft tissues, said, “Filipper’s wing shape, dustel end, and clearly indicates that the large -scale animals have a good production of water, which means to reduce the production of water during the swimming. The wings also make a sample of zig zig – when you hunt at night, quietly.
Although many small ichthyosaurs have been found with soft tissue protection, scientists have never found anything on this scale.
Using a range of modern imaging, chemical analysis and computational modeling techniques, researchers also pointed out that the structure of the Philippers was really unique, which has been strengthened by a casting, stick -like structure, called the team called “Coderodarm”.
In addition, Timondonatosis also had the biggest eyes-the size of the hair is known as the rash, supports the assumption that these aquatic animals hunt at night or in low light conditions in deep waters.
Dr. Dan Lomx, who is also a 1851 research fellow at the University of Bristol, said, “For the first time I saw the sample, I knew it was unique. After checking thousands of ichthyosaurs, I never saw anything like this. Recoveret will also revolutionize them (and possibly other ancient maritime Rebattels will also revolutionize them (and possibly other ancient marine regortalats will also revolutionize them (and possibly other ancient maritime registrations will also revolutionize them.
Foslized Filper was discovered by Fosal Collector George Gillets, who is the co -author of the new research. It is noteworthy that George found this fully coincidence while searching for a temporary exhibition at a temporary exhibition at the municipality of the German city of Datron House.

The foam contains almost an entire front flipper section and counterpart (opposition party). Although George searched further, no other remnants were found. Since the top part of the art is missing, the team realized that it was actually an isolated flipper that may have been cut by a major ichthyosaur.
George attracted the sample to the attention of Swin Sex, a specialist and co -author of the Natural History Museum, Belieffield, who acknowledged the search.
Dr. Lundgirin said, “The fact that we have been able to restructure the stealth capabilities for a long time, is noteworthy. Also, because of the shipping activity, military Sonar, earthquake survey, and foreign air forms, the noise of human motivation is affected by their influence on their lives, helping them to influence their lives. Input can be affected.
It was a limit to sensitive imaging, elementary and molecular analysis to open the mystery behind the properties stored in this focus. The multi -disciplinary research team included specialists, engineers, biology and physics. This includes advanced techniques such as PSI and Diamond Light Source in Swiss Light Source SLS with Sincutron radiation -based X -ray microtomography, time -of -flight secondary ion moss spectrometry and infrared micro -spectroscopy as well as a computational dialogue.
Dr. Loms added, “Gvsam provides new information about this highly levithan flipper soft tissues, its structures are never seen in an animal, and the victim shows a unique strategy (thus provides proof of its behavior), helping to reduce its sound with the fact.
The first ichthyosaur to be brought to the attention of science was discovered 200 years ago by expert expert Mary Ining and his brother Joseph. That focus was also a tonodontosis, the same type of ichthyosaur that the flip was concerned.
Dr. Lomx added, “In a strange way, I feel that there is a wonderful circle moment that has returned to Maryaming that even after 200 years, we have been found found to be found to be found interesting and amazing.”
