Heat waves – US electric peak demand set new records twice in July

The demand for electricity in the lower 48 states exceeded the previous peaks in the last week of July.

Hot weather, which increases the demand for electricity for cooling, in combination with the basic trend of increasing demand, the lower 48 states reached the height of 758,053 MW (MW) between 6 pm to 7:00 pm on July 28 at 7:00 pm.
