Looking forward to school holidays in mid -March, parents will be looking for leisure activities for their children’s entertainment. Why don’t you entertain your young children with some children’s activities around ancient Egypt? It may be a great idea to take them to the museum, but if you don’t like the crowd, let us be ready to have some fun in learning about Egyptian history and culture.

1. Write your name in the Hyreroglyphs
You might have gone to an exhibition where you could write your name in the ancient Egyptian Hiruges. In writing your name, you only need pen and paper and the key that contains the most important hirugalphs. The key here is from an activity designed by the Royal Ontario Museum.
- Write your name first.
- Identify the sounds (like, for Thomas, the sounds will be Tomas because here is silent here). The goal here is to identify letters that clear your name: Some sounds can be two letters (eg, CH), others may be silent (such as, h). In Egypt, they were often just a symbol.

- See the key to Hiruges to find the symptoms according to the letters of your name.
- Write these signs behind each other and, voyilà, is your name.
There are certainly many more nuances to write your name in Hiruges, and we will dive into the blog post in this topic! Now, you can see the amazing activity provided by the Royal Ontario Museum, which also offers some other background information.

2. See Prince of Egypt
Film and television is a very special feature in ancient Egypt and is a prince of Egypt at home. The film, released in 1998, revolves around Moses and revolves around his role in the Israeli outbreak outside Egypt. I have already reviewed it for the blog and I can recommend it very much – it is no surprise that the film has become a clutter classic in some circles.
3. Games are always entertaining kids activities
Adults have played games like Seed Mayor’s civilization VI before and for our younger audience and there are many options. The National Museum has various games in Scotland: from learning about Egypt’s geography, from Egyptian fashion to cost yourself. Sports is easy for a child of any age and needs computer and internet connection.

If you want to play a real game that has come to us from ancient times, the game Senate is for you. Set in three rows of 10 fours in each, you start with five pieces. You use four sticks of wood (one side is flat) or dice to move. If you land in a place that your opponent has occupied, you trade in places. Your purpose? First remove your pieces from the board.

Many museums have placed complete instructions together, see here:
As an alternative, you can also find a Senate game on Apple’s App Store to play on an iPhone or iPad:
4. Cook some tasty Egyptian dishes
This is probably one of the more children’s activities. We have mentioned the amazing kickbook before Pharaoh’s kitchen By Magda Mahda and Amar Hussain. Why not choose a lot of recipes, mess, and cook it with your little? Here is a favorite Complete mediumsWhich is easy to make. You will need 2 cups of dried foa beans, 4 cloves of garlic, 1 liter of water, and 1 teaspoon salt. When you boil the water, wash the beans. Once the water is boiled, add the beans and boil for 30 minutes. Remove the fruit coming from the beans. Continue the beans for at least four hours (you can reduce the heat slightly) and then add salt, garlic and pepper. Then present with some beaten bread (or any chopped bread) and enjoy!

Are Tiger nuts kicking at home? Try your hand on digging with Raven as well as offering bread to Egyptian Tiger Nut. They try to rebuild these offers after the new kingdom found in Egyptian private tombs. See below:
At home, what kids do you enjoy the activities around Egypt? Tell me in the comments.

About Egypt, Thomas is currently completing his doctorate at Toronto University. When you do not work on your dissertation, it has to periodically find nature and enjoy local wine.
