The Genetics Society of America permanently evaluates the needs of our community, including members from career stages. The newly established engagement and Professional Development Committee (EPDC) will provide guidance on preliminary career scientists (ECS), mid -carrier and established faculty, and professional development programming on the formation of non -educational staff, to ensure that the GSA is a source.
As our first project, we recognize that the middle career faculty faces many challenges, including competitive priorities between service, education and research. Although our ECS community is well -supported, professional members of the GSA also need opportunities to increase the ongoing education and expertise to move forward in their careers. In the development of our career, our middle career community and to ensure that they achieve development, the GSA’s EPDC developed a storage of resources proposed and developed by fellow members of the Society, the resources for the Central Career Scientists Webpage. At the end of each academic year, the EPDC resources will reach our community so that resources are related and timely.
If you want to provide feedback or suggestions for GSA’s professional development programs, arrive at Geo Angelchut@Ucdavis.edu on EPDC chair. The GSA will seek annual applications in the fall to join our genetics community’s service and other committees.
