The Bible’s command to appear before God in three major festivals (exception 16:16) means that Jerusalem received thousands of pilgrims in the Passover (Pech), Penticost (Shavuot), And tents (Scotto) Still, we know very little about the pilgrimage during the Persian and Hellenstick periods (sixth – second -century BC). We are in a very secure field for late Hasmunin and Heroden, which is summarized at the end of the second temple (the first century BC – the first century CE). During this particular period, Jerusalem Shirat is the subject of “Archaeological Archaeological Archaeological Archaeological” at the gates of the temple. Bible archeology reviews.
Although many extensive accounts testify at the end of the other temple visit, we still know very little about how it looks like it and how it was done. The problem is that the authors of the Flues Alexandria, the Flavis Josephs, and even the New Testament, spend a little time to describe the practical and unhealthy aspects of the Jewish shrine in Jerusalem, Jerusalem of the second temple. And for us in Robinic literature, more descriptive accounts come from another during the fourth century CE, which means that they do not contain authentic evidence for four centuries from their time.

Fortunately, archaeological discoveries in and around Jerusalem revealed that the other temple of Jerusalem looks like a truly visible. In them Bible archeology reviews Article, Ozi Liber and Oth Paleg Barkat offer an overview of the previous excavation and then focus on their ongoing archaeological project. Libner is the head of the Institute of Archeology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, while Paleg Barkat is a senior lecturer there. They engage in the southern walls of the ancient temple mountain, just shared the excavations of the new Ophil. The area can be identified by the Bible’s Ophil and represents a narrow letter connecting the mountain of the temple to the south to the south.
“Oafal is one of the most important archaeological places of the second temple era, with a lot of construction remnants and rich assemblies of those found. In most of the second temple, Jerusalem was located in the city of Dawood, and the worshipers crossed Ofal on the way to the West, from the other side of the West, and the other on the other side. That most visitors used to go through Ophil, “Libner and Paleg Barkat.

Modern archaeological excavation shows how this basic shrine of the temple adjusts the flow of pilgrims during the big holidays. Structures, installations and samples from this area reflect the activities of pilgrims. Numerous immersion ponds were exposed on Ophil, but also outside the city’s walls, there are proofs of formal purification. Many coins indicate the commercial role of the area, where people can exchange money or buy sacrificial animals. The other temple of Jerusalem was also supported by the underground tunnels, drains, and water management system for water management.

Focusing on the eastern part of Ophil, archaeologists are now starting to understand how the public area supported the shrine at the end of the second temple, which is until the Roman destruction of the city in the summer of 70 CE. Labor and Paleg Barkat conclude, “By combining the sample analysis with the reconstruction of the area’s urban layout, we can begin reorganization methods of pilgrimage during this important period in the history of Jerusalem.”
