New research has revealed a type of hook -tooth lizard that lived about 167 million years ago and has a confused set of features in snakes and gacoos. “Snakes are remarkable animals that manufacture long, long -lasting bodies of ancestors like lizards,” said Roger Benson, the main author of the study, the Macauley curator of the American Museum of Natural History.

“Brexinathir has features like teeth and jaw snakes, but in other ways, it is amazingly ancient. It is telling us that the ancestors of the snake were very different from our expectations, or instead of proof that hunter habits like snakes were developed separately in an early, extinct group.”

The lizards and snakes together form a group called Squats. Brexiter is placed in a new group of extinct, hunterial schemes called Parverapestori, which was previously known only by more pieces.

Initial studies reported a snake -like tooth -lifting bones, which were found in proximity to bones, which had characteristics such as Gaco. But since they looked very different, some researchers believe they belong to two different animals.

The new work on the bronzeter rejects these preliminary results, which shows that both like a snake and like gaco are present in the same animal.

Brunaganatir was discovered by Stag Walsh in 2016 with the National Museum Scotland, while a campaign with Banson and others on the Oil of Sky. The researchers have since spent about 10 years after developing the sample, with computing tomography as well as imaging and analyzing the results with high -power X -rays in European Sancutron Radiation Facility in Greenobel, France.
