A new study by Durham University has shown that a major impact on the formation of Jupiter’s remarkable “slim” core may not be responsible, which has challenged a theory about the history of the planet.

The largest planet in our solar system is an episode in the heart of Jupiter. Unlike expected scientists, its basic part does not have a sharp extent, but instead gradually mixes the surrounding layers of hydrogen (a structure known as a slim core).

Ever since NASA’s Juno spacecraft revealed its existence for the first time, how has this important question been created between scientists and astronomers?

The previous study said that a strong collision with the early planets in which half of the basic substance of Jupiter could be well found in the Central region of Jupiter, which is enough to explain the interior of the planet today.

In collaboration with NASA, Settlement, and the University of Oslo scientists, researchers from Durham University, with a new method to improve the counter -treatment of materials, used the latest supercomputer impressions of the effects of planets, with scientists at the University of Oslo.

The imitation was operated on Derek Cosma supercomputer, hosted at Durham University using the latest Swift Open Source software.

This study has found that a stable slim infrastructure was not developed in any imitation, even among those who included the effects in extreme situations.

Instead, the imitation shows that the dense rock and ice -core substance that are displaced by the effect will rapidly resettle, which will keep a separate limit with the outer layers of hydrogen and helium rather than creating a smooth transfer zone between the two regions.

The results of the study, appeared in Monthly notes of Royal Astronomical SocietySo do not support the assumption that Jupiter’s slim core was developed by the same dramatic effects, but instead suggests that it is the result of how the growing planet has absorbed heavy and light material as it has been formed and produced.

Considering these results, Dr. Thomas Sandans, the leading author of the study, said, “It is interesting to discover that a large planet like Jupiter will respond to one of the violent events that can experience a growing planet.

“We see in our imitation that such effects literally shake the planet with its core part – not just to explain the interior of Jupiter that we are seeing today.”

Jupiter is not the only planet with a slim core, because scientists have recently found evidence that Saturn is also one.

“The fact that Saturn also has a weak core reinforces the idea that these structures are not the result of extraordinary, high energy effects, but instead, they are slowly forming during the long process of planet development and evolution,” said Dr.

The results of this study can also help scientists aware of the understanding and interpretation of many Jupiter and Saturn -sized explanations that have been observed around the stars.

If the thin cores are not made by rare and extreme effects, perhaps most of them or all planets are relatively complex internal internal.

“The giant effects are an important part of the dates of many planets, but they can’t explain everything,” said Dr. Jacob Cigris, co -author of the study.

“This project also intensified another step of developing our new ways to imitate these devastating events in more detail, helping to reduce how the solar system and the amazing diversity of the world beyond.”
