Alan Lloyd – AncientPages.com – Although Sam Bass lived outside the law, his reputation as a good man with a generous spirit endures. His kindness and compassion won him the admiration of Texas, who saw in him a lovable outlaw with a heart of gold. Much like the legendary Robin Hood, Sam Bass chooses to target only the wealthy, influential countless people with his courage and sense of justice.

Sam played hide-and-seek with law enforcement for years, and his wild train robberies earned him fame and acclaim in Texas and many other states. His treasure, estimated to be around $340 million, is still hidden in Texas. Many treasure hunters have searched for it, but if it exists, it hasn’t been found yet.
Born on July 21, 1851, in Mitchell, Indiana, Sam was an orphan raised by his uncle, who unfortunately refused to provide him with an education. Sam left home at the age of 19, but didn’t begin his criminal career yet.
