What does the Bible say about dogs? What role did he play in the post?
Justin David in his article detects dogs in the Bible and the ancient world. From pets to therapists: Dogs in the world of the Bible“Appeared in the May/June 2019 issue Bible archeology reviews. It shows how archaeological discoveries clarify different dogs in the Bible. In particular, to understand how dogs were seen in the Greco Roman world, Luke illuminates the rich man and the parable of the rich man from 16: 19-31.
What does the Bible say about dogs?
Eurytios krater. History C 600 BC shows a great invitation in honor of the Uuretius Corter Hercules. Euretius, the king of Ochalaia, the host, and his daughter, Iule, is one of the interests of Hercules’s love. Dogs wait under the table to eat a falling food scrap on the ground. This scene helps to keep the example of rich man and the lawful (Luke 16: 19-31) in context. Along with these dogs, the rich desires to eat from the table of the man. Photo: Jestro/CC by 2.5.
In the ancient East and the Mediterranean, the rare dogs served as companions, hunting dogs, sheep dogs and guard dogs. Dogs filled similar roles in the Bible (such as, job 30: 1; Isaiah 56: 10-11). Although dogs are sometimes visible in the Bible negative context, as in blasphemy, they are not formally listed as “unclean” animals. Strong made it clear that until at least the second century BC, the Jews saw the dogs positively:
If the dog was ever considered as formal unclean by the Israelites, it had shed this prohibition until the second century BC’s book Tobit. When the author left Tubius on a long journey, he has shown Tobias’s pet dog as a co -guardian with a partner and an angel Rafael, along with the adventures to leave the Jewish home (Tobit 6: 2; 11: 4).
In the Greco -Roman world, dogs often used to sit under tables and ate the falling food on the ground. A scene with table dogs is shown in the Euretius Corter before the sixth century. In addition, in the Testament, Sierra Finnish talks about the female table dogs: “Yes, the Lord, yet dogs still eat pieces of falling from their masters table” (Matthew 15: 27, NRSV).

Some ancient Greeks and Romans made tomb or headstones for their dead pets. They show that the owners raised their pets. There are several logs, even describing dogs as family members.
Dogs also filled the therapist’s interesting role in the Grecoo Roman world. Strongly explains how its progress happened:
The ancient authors noted, for example, the dog knows that after the Hippocrates suggested, it should raise the injured leg. Along with other evidence, the ancient observer found that the dog knows that if he had disturbed his stomach, he had eaten something that the dog accelerates his stomach, and that the dog knows to lick his wounds that he knows to be clean, and that he is more wounds to heal.
In the role of an animal king’s physician, dog medicine’s Greek deity appears in the Skilipus sect. The holy dogs, who live in the temples of God, lick the wounds of the visitors. Their tongues are credible and healing.
This understanding of dogs as doctors is important for the example of a rich man and a lord in Luke 16: 19-31. The parable reads:
There was a rich man dressed in purple and fine clothes and who had eaten softly every day. And at his gate there was a poor man named Lazar, who was covered with wounds, who wanted to fulfill his hunger from the rich man’s table. Even dogs would come and lick his wounds.
The poor man died and the angels took him to live with Abraham. The rich man also died and was buried. At Heads, where he was being harassed, he looked up and saw Abraham as well as Lazar. He cried out, “Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send the tip of your finger to the water and cool my tongue. Because I am in pain in these flames.”
But Ibrahim said, “Baby, remember that you have received your good things during your life, and Lazar has achieved the same bad things. But now he has been comforted here, and you are in agony.
In addition to all this, a huge springs between you and us have been settled, so that those who want to go to you cannot do so, and no one can cross us.
He said, “Then, my father, I urge you to send him to his father’s house – because I have five brothers – that he can warn them, so that he too does not come to this place of punishment.”
Abraham replied, “They have Moses and Prophets. They should listen to them.”
He said, “No, father Ibrahim; but if anyone goes to them, they will repent.”
He said to him, “If they do not listen to the words of Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.”
(Luke 16: 19-31, NRSV)
In the parable, dogs lick the wounds of the luxury. Seeing dogs as fit, we can see that it was a welfare process. Strongly explains that the previous interpretation of the dogs is corrected as a defamatory characters: “The work of the dogs licking the lord is traditionally considered to be a sign of extreme distress. The lord should be disabled that they cannot leave those who are unable to explain,” we can think of the dogs. As if her nurses.

We also see from this parable that the lords want to eat from the rich man’s table, such as a table dog. However, the rich man also denies it.
Thus, the dog companion, the table dog, the guard dog, the sheep dogs, the hunters, and the physician, are aware of our understanding of the rich man and the essence of the essence.
