The newly identified reigning animal is about the size of the dolphin.
Scientists said on Friday, a skeleton found on the British Jurassic Coast has been identified as a new type of ichthyosaur, a type of prehistoric marine reign.
Comparison with dolphin, Ichthyosaur has been named Xifodicon Goldenkinsis, or “Dorset’s Sword Dragon”, where nearly a compliment skeleton was discovered after the English county.
“This is the only well -known example of its kind of existence and helps fill an important gap in the evolutionary focus record of Achhosis,” said Manchester University.
Dan Lomax, an ichthyosaur expert at the University of Honor, led by three strong teams of analysts.
Ichthyosaurs were crawling animals who spent their lives under water. They are not considered dinosaurs.
The sword is from the Dragon Plainsbachchin era, which occurred about 190 million years ago.
The skeleton was discovered in 2001 near the Golden Cape in the Dorset, but was recently analyzed by a peltologist.
It includes a huge eye socket and a long sword -like snot skull.
Scientists said the animal was about three meters long and ate fish and squad.
This research was published on Friday papers in paleaontology Journal.
The skeleton is for exhibition at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto, Canada.
